Fortinet acquires Virtue AI to strengthen AI security

ortinet has announced the acquisition of Virtue AI, a

F specialist in AI runtime protection, automated AI validation and security for autonomous AI systems.

The acquisition advances Fortinet’ s broader Security for AI strategy and its vision for securing the agentic enterprise, building on its existing AI security portfolio, including the FortiGate Hyperscale Firewall.
As organisations rapidly deploy AI applications and autonomous agents, their attack surfaces are expanding beyond traditional networks, users, endpoints, applications and cloud workloads. They now include prompts, models, agents, Model Context Protocol( MCP) tools, application programming interface( API) calls and AI infrastructure. Organisations need to adopt AI with confidence, keep it secure in production and ensure it behaves as intended.
Earlier this year, Fortinet introduced FortiAIGate, which protects large language models( LLMs) against prompt injection, data leakage, model poisoning, excessive resource consumption and other emerging AI-specific risks. Virtue AI extends these capabilities across AI models, applications and agentic systems, from development through to runtime.
Virtue AI’ s capabilities include agentic system red-teaming, which tests autonomous agents for exploitable weaknesses across more than 50 sandboxed environments and 14 high-stakes domains. This includes simulated prompt-injection and MCP-based attacks against leading agent frameworks.
“ AI is fundamentally changing enterprise computing, and security must evolve just as quickly,” said Ken Xie, Founder, Chairman of the Board, and Chief Executive Officer at Fortinet.“ Virtue AI’ s technology will advance our vision for continuous AI assurance, helping

customers govern and protect AI systems throughout their lifecycle while operating them confidently at enterprise scale.”

VAST Data and CrowdStrike integrate security across enterprise AI environments

AST Data and CrowdStrike have announced new integrations

V designed to bring enterprise-grade cybersecurity across the infrastructure, data and AI workloads supporting production AI.

VAST’ s AI infrastructure platform natively supports the CrowdStrike Falcon sensor, establishing a foundation for deeper integrations with Falcon Next-Gen SIEM and Falcon Guardian, CrowdStrike’ s new AI Detection and Response( AIDR) solution, across the VAST AI Operating System.
Together, the companies are integrating security across the systems running AI, access to the proprietary data that fuels it and the data pipelines preparing that information for AI applications.
As enterprises operationalise AI, these environments are becoming increasingly interconnected, creating new security

challenges as sensitive data moves between infrastructure, users, models and agents. By combining VAST’ s visibility into data activity with CrowdStrike’ s threat intelligence, detection and response capabilities, organisations will be able to identify risks with greater context and investigate potential threats across their AI environments.
“ The security boundary for AI can’ t stop at the infrastructure. Enterprises need to understand who is accessing their data, how that data is moving through AI pipelines and what is happening when applications and models interact with it,” said Renen Hallak, Founder and CEO at VAST Data.
“ Together with CrowdStrike, we’ re bringing security across each of those layers. By combining the VAST AI Operating System with the intelligence of the Falcon platform, customers can build AI environments where security is part of the architecture from the foundation through the AI pipeline.”
